Auditors and evaluators are independent — that’s the point of them, and it’s right. But it means the specific help providers actually want before an audit (“read our documents and tell us what you’d flag”) has to come from somewhere that isn’t auditing you. That’s the seat we take.

Jamie is Director · Specialist Support Worker at NEURO SUPPORT LIMITED, and founded Neuro Support, a Christchurch disability support service. Behind it sit fifteen years of frontline support work, much of it inside community residential services running under Ngā Paerewa — on the floor through their audits and evaluations, which is where the document load actually lands.
The review process was built the way an operator would build it: to be useful on a busy provider’s worst week, not just accurate. And because judgement doesn’t delegate well, every action required finding in every report is personally reviewed by Jamie before delivery.
The tools behind the review were built here, for this standard, because sitting through those audits made the gaps obvious. They were used on our own service before they were offered to anyone else.
Purpose-built, not adapted
Most compliance material in this sector is a general checklist with disability wording added. Ours started the other way round: built against Ngā Paerewa criterion by criterion, for community residential services, by someone who has spent fifteen years working inside services that answer to it. That is why the report cites your document and the criterion number rather than offering general advice — the instrument was made for this one job.
